After School Program
The After School Program provides FREE high-quality art and academic classes to K-12 youth in the Shreveport-Bossier area. Offered throughout the school year, the After School Program runs in four seven-week sessions (Fall I, Fall II, Winter, and Spring.) Renzi students take two 25-minute academic classes and one 50-minute art class each day they are enrolled for a session, Monday to Thursday. Up to 60 students attend Renzi classes daily.
For each session, the Renzi Center staffs 20-25 professional artists and instructors. We offer core academic classes such as Language Arts, Reading, Math, and Homework every session. We often change or alternate our offerings of art and academic classes that give students supplementary knowledge (such as Vocabulary or Nutrition) each session, so students always have a variety of courses to choose from. In Renzi's small, academic classes, experienced, caring teachers tutor their students one-on-one, focusing on their specific problems and setbacks. In the art classes, local, professional artists demonstrate their own approaches, techniques, and processes in creating their artworks. They guide their students through their creative processes, encouraging them to explore their own ideas and visions. For Renzi's current list of teachers and artists, please click here.
